Thursday 19 August saw a welcome return to rugby at Willowbridge Lane and a very healthy crowd were entertained in a fantastic game against our friends at Wheatley Hills RUFC. It was a competitive game throughout as both sides took the chance to blow off the cobwebs and give opportunities for squad players to get valuable game time. It was nip and tuck throughout but as the rain started the home side managed to fashion a good try under the posts that proved vital in edging out great opponents in a tough contest.
The improvements to the stand and the porch over the patio proved their worth and the trusted band of volunteers should be rightly proud of all the pre-match preparations and the excellent condition of the pitch. The fact that the game was played under floodlights certainly added to the atmosphere and the drama of the first competitive match for too long a period.
It was good to be back!
The next match is the away return fixture at Wheatley Hills on Thursday 26 August, 7:00 kick off.
